Over the course of this semester this class has broadened my knowledge of the world of digital media and the history of the internet. I learned the most on the days where my peers presented their projects. Having the students teach class for a day was very beneficial and increased my understanding of various topics surrounding the digital world. Some of the information presented was very shocking such as the disturbing statistics showing the rise of mental health problems beginning in 2009. It opened my eyes to how the introduction to the internet affected the entire world in a similar way in terms of mental health.
The process of website building was nerve racking at first but I soon became more comfortable using the various tools and technologies. The thought of future employers looking at my social media presence made me evaluate my instagram and caused me to reflect on how I want to present myself on social media. Having my own website has instilled a sense of pride in my abilities to navigate new media and technology.
